Obtaining Virtual CE Credit

Do attendees have to attend all the CE courses presented?

  • All virtual courses are included in the Virtual Congress, so attendees may attend as many or as few courses as they wish. However, you must be registered in advance of the event.

How long does each attendee have to be present?

  • Attendees needing COPE accreditation are required to be present for 50 minutes per hour of accredited content as verified by the webinar platform auditing tools.

In addition to attending the course for the required time, is there a test/other requirement to obtain CE credit?

  • For Optometrists, these sessions are COPE approved as "Online Interactive Distance Learning" and/or "Synchronous Virtual" if you meet the attendance requirements. No post-tests are required, but you must complete the post-course evaluations (see information below).

What CE accreditations do the courses have?

  • Accreditation approvals are listed for each virtual course here - https://attendseco.com/seco-2023-accreditations/
  • PLEASE NOTE - Accreditations for the virtual program differ from those for the live event. Do not assume anything. It is the attendee’s responsibility to verify accreditations to ensure they meet specific state requirements prior to taking a course.

Post-Course Evaluations - REQUIRED

  • The day following each course, links to the post-course evaluations will be available on the login page http://attendseco.com/virtual-meeting. You will need your Registration ID# to access your information.
  • Should you incur any technical issues when trying to connect to your post-course evaluations or the verifications of attendance, please email us at virtualCE@secostaff.com.

How long will attendees have to complete evaluations?

  • Attendees will have 5 days to complete the evaluations.
  • Attendees should email virtualCE@secostaff.com if they are unable to access the post-course evaluation(s).

How will credits be reported?

  • SECO will track Zoom login to verify attendance.
  • Once you complete your post-course evaluations for each course attended, you will have access to download a PDF Verification of Attendance (VOA) for all courses attended during SECO 2023. Please keep this VOA in your records.
  • SECO submits CE records to ARBO/COPE if the attendee’s validated OE Tracker number is indicated on the attendee registration record.
  • SECO submits CE records to Optometry Boards for Florida, South Carolina, and Texas via CE Broker if the attendee’s state license number is indicated on the attendee registration record. PLEASE NOTE: Florida OD CE Broker only accepts virtual courses under the Practice Management Category.
  • Attendees must self-submit to any other state board.

What if the attendee’s names/emails are incorrect on certificates?

When will the CE credit appear on the attendee’s ARBO OE Tracker and/or FL/SC/TX CE Broker account?

  • Attendance may take up to 8 weeks before it appears. If attendees need CE sooner, they can self-submit using the provided certificates.

Can I watch these courses later and get CE?

  • Virtual attendees will need to be present during the scheduled live-streamed course. They will have access to the speakers via the Q&A and Chat functions, and that direct real-time access is what qualifies these courses to be accepted as "Online Interactive" and/or "Synchronous Virtual" by COPE.
  • NOTE: Only in-person attendance in Atlanta, GA is considered "Live". We have a separate initiative for ODs that want enduring, online learning options that can be accessed on-demand. That platform, SECO University (www.secouniversity.com) has many COPE accredited CE sessions that qualify as Enduring Distance Learning, not as Live. If you registered for a virtual "Congress" package, an annual subscription to SECO University is included.

Technology Tips

Can multiple people use the same device to participate in the virtual event?

  • No. To obtain credit, each learner needs to log in on a separate device using his or her registration number. This is a requirement needed to accurately track and document attendance and accreditation. CE credit will not be provided to multiple participants on the same account.

Can I switch devices during a course or use different devices each day to log in?

  • Yes. As long as you log in with your registration number, we can track your attendance time as required by the accrediting boards, no matter how many different devices you use.

Can I use a phone or tablet, or do I need to use a laptop or desktop?

  • We strongly suggest you use a laptop or desktop as it provides the best learning experience.  Additionally, using a phone or tablet may or may not limit your ability to access some of the features such as chat and Q&A that could prove important should you need assistance.

What happens if I lose sound or my internet connection during the event?

  • We highly recommend that you have a strong and wired internet connection.  Should you lose audio or video during the event, we suggest you do a reboot of your device and log back in. Please note, SECO is not responsible for your internet connection, device capability, or power supply. Please plan accordingly.

We look forward to virtually welcoming you to SECO 2023!
